Two low-resolution SAR satellites Nova SAR (6 meters) and ICEYE (10 meters) are launching on a PSLV through Spaceflight, a satellite rideshare and mission management provider, has announced it will be launching 11 spacecraft in early January from India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). Spacecraft include Finland’s ICEYE-X1 SAR microsatellite, Planetary Resources’ Arkyd-6 6U asteroid prospecting demonstration cubesat, four Spire Global Lemur-2 cubesats, NovaSAR-S, Astro Digital’s Landmapper-BC3, AMSAT’s Fox-1D , cubesat, and others.
NovaSAR-S is a joint technology demonstration initiative of SSTL (Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd.), UK, and Airbus DS (former EADS Astrium Ltd, Stevenage, UK), funded by the UK Government via the UKSA (UK Space Agency). The overall objective is to make SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) observation missions more affordable to a customer base and to open up new application-oriented in the microwave region of the spectrum.

India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle will lift the CartoSat-2ER satellite into orbit to join the country’s CartoSat fleet that operates high-resolution, multi-band observation satellites for civilian and military applications. This mission will be the Return-To-Flight for the PSLV workhorse after a launch failure in 2016 in which the rocket’s payload fairing pyrotechnics malfunctioned and left the combined fourth stage-fairing-satellite stack stranded in a low orbit. In addition to CartoSat-2ER, PSLV will carry a number of secondary payloads of different shapes and sizes.
